Newbie fan here... just saying hello! n_n

I discovered them through that literal video thing that's going around, I wanted to see the original video, and I fell in love.

I feel kinda dumb not knowing about these guys sooner.

So yeah, hello and stuff. *scuttles away*

so. since it seems to be out of print by all accounts, is anyone here in posession of curt's 'soul on board' album and would you be willing to upload it for me? i'm a raging completist and i've been scouring soulseek and torrent sites for weeks to no avail. if you're interested, i have a couple good radio sessions from 82 or 83. which i'll pass on anyway if anyone wants them since they're already uploaded. ha.

AND, i'm always interested in having people with good taste on my friends list. ::nudge nudge wink wink::

This community needs to be a little more active! Where are the other Tears for Fears fans? Come on, Curt's Myspace page is so much more active than here :]

Anyway, I just got the album Acting My Age quite recently and when I listened to it I was quite surprised at how different they sounded! but I enjoyed several songs anyway, although I was a little disappointed that I didn't hear Curt sing in any of the songs.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have bass tabs for any of the songs? I heard some catchy bass lines and I would love to learn them, but unfortunately, I'm not a very talented musician. lol. I can't play by ear :[
I most especially liked I See Through You :]

Oh, and does anyone have any good pictures of Roland and Curt in their Graduate days? I would love to see any!
Thank you

Upcoming Tears for Fears Concert (San Diego, CA)

I am very excited about the upcoming Tears for Fears concert in San Diego, California (which I will surely be attending) and I was just wondering, does anyone have any idea what the concert setlist might be like? Unfortunately, I really haven't gotten really into their newest album and I would feel like a total inept if I didn't know any of the newer songs. Are they going to focus mostly on the new album or are they still playing lots of oldies? This is obviously a question for the people who have attended the newer concerts. Also, Songs from the Big Chair came out the year I was born so I've basically been a fan my whole life! I'm so excited I'm finally getting a chance to see them live! Hoorah!

Question of Time

First post of 2007, yay!

Hello ... if anybody is still out there (??) I recently got really into TFF and have been looking all over the internet for comms like this one, just to meet other fans and dig for information lol. I joined a couple of days ago but just got around to posting, so here's the really old [intro] survey :)

1) Fan since: This past week (lol), but I've known of the band since I was about 5 (around 1990).
2) How were you introduced? Their songs came on the radio a lot when I was a kid. I was re-introduced when I heard the original "Shout" (I heard the Disturbed version first) on the radio last week, and did a google search for the band. The rest is history :)
3) Favorite era: Hmm ... 1982-85. More boppy/pop.
4) Favorite B-side: I don't have any of their albums yet, but I'll say Raoul and the King of Spains because it wasn't very well known.
5) Any songs you don't like? Some of the newer songs I'm not too crazy about.
6) An amusing/interesting live anecdote: Don't have any [yet]
7) What's the most surprising song you've heard by them on regular mainstream radio? I've only heard "Shout" recently.
8) Do you have any especially rare or unusual collectors items? Nope
9) Anything you know of by the band--song, video, article--that you know about but haven't been able to see/hear/read? Nope.
10) Three (give or take) interesting facts you know about the band/its members: Roland likes to be called "Sir", Curt was a kleptomaniac when he was a kid, and Roland also had some mad groove skills back in the day.
11) Your feelings on the break-up? I'm glad it happened when it did (for better or worse), otherwise we may not have seen a reunion.
12) Your feelings on the reunion? Glad they're back together - now I may have another chance to catch them live (why am I always late??)
13) Can you offer us a TFF related quote? "When people see me on TV they think I'm a nice guy, when really I'm a bastard" ~ Roland (the only one I can remember by heart).
14) A favorite lyric (just a line or two, not the whole song):So free her ... ~Woman in Chains
15) And, finally, a favorite personal TFF moment? None yet.

Just joined.

This community doesn't seem too alive, but that's all right, I'll say greetings, all the same.

So, I've been a Tears For Fears fan since I was about 9 or so? That's not a long time, really. I've only existed since 1987! Damn that too. In Jr. High/High school I was the kid who when asked who my favourite bands were, got more response from the teachers than from my fellow students. lol. They were always, who is Depeche Mode/Gary Numan/Tears For Fears_etc. And the teachers, Oh! I've this album on LP! Haha.

Is there a chance that will hear more music from Tears For Fears? Or at least solo work from the gents?
I hate to say, they were in the Dallas area, and I missed them. Which was devastating, but I'd been in a bit of bad health all of 2005.

Oh, obviously, you'll note from my new username, that I am a Robert Wyatt fan as well. Any others? And it's actually thanks to TFF that I even know who Robert Wyatt is! Because of their Sea Song cover. I love that song.

Well, I'm done rambling.

Tears for Fears Lyric Question

Hey all -

Does anyone know what the sort of half-sung half-spoken words are just before the chorus in "Cold"? Like, right after "me I don't long to belong..." and then after "don't you know that love is work..." It's one of my favorite TFF songs and I love to sing along to it and sometimes daydream that someday a band I'm in will cover it, because it's fun to sing - but I don't know what the words are there (and can't seem to find it online - the lyric sites I've found leave that bit out).

Anyone know? Anyone got any theories?

Tori Amos cover of "Mad World"

I don't know if anyone has heard this, but Tori Amos (another of my favorite musicians) recently covered "Mad World" in her concert in Austin, TX. You can download an mp3 at this website: http://www.hereinmyhead.com/sounds/index.html. I really like it, but how could I not? One of my favorite singers covering one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups? Kickass.
